Focus is a status effect that prevents the affected player from being affected by Sleep and Confuse abilities used by an enemy of confused ally for three rounds. It is automatically applied to a player after a Sleep or Confuse ability wears off.
One exception to Focus is when a Wizard uses Exhaust, which is the special ability of the Malevolent Staff. Even if the Wizard is Focused at the time, Exhaust will put them to sleep.
