Death occurs when a target runs out of HP. When a player dies they lose half of the Gold on their person, unless the battle happens between two players more than 7 levels apart. They are then returned to the last visited city (like Recall) with full HP and MP. You can prevent losing gold by storing it in the Bank.

If you die when you are part of a group, then you can be Redeemed or Revived by a living player. Otherwise, you will be automatically returned to life after the battle ends with 1 HP, but will not receive gold or Experience from the battle. Additionally, you will still be eligible for an item drop if you're dead.

Some abilities like CoinFlip, Smite, and Judgment have a chance of inflicting death on mobs.
