Bosses are special monsters that are pre-set encounters and with a few exceptions are always located in the same section of certain dungeons (Procrastor is always found at the end of the Forest Maze, the Phoenix is always found at the highest peak of Mount Vezu, etc).
Bosses can not be recruited to be a player's companion and are designed to be a steep increase in difficulty compared to random encounters in the same area, as well as when compared to miniboss encounters. Bosses do not award a significant boost to reputation like minibosses do.
